Roberto Sierra
For more than a decade the works of American composer Roberto Sierra have been part of the repertoire of many of the leading orchestras, ensembles and festivals in the USA and Europe. At the inaugural concert of the 2002 world renowned Proms in London, his Fandangos was performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in a concert that was broadcast by both the BBC Radio and Television throughout the UK and Europe. Sierra's numerous commissions include works for many of the major American and European orchestras. International ensembles that have performed his works include the orchestras of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, New Mexico, Houston, Minnesota, Dallas, Detroit, San Antonio and Phoenix, as well as by the American Composers Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra of Zurich, the Spanish orchestras of Madrid, Galicia, Castilla y León and Barcelona, among others.
Philippe Quint
Grammy Award-nominee violinist Philippe Quint captivates audience with his charismatic presence and “searingly poetic lyricism” (Daily Telegraph, UK). His début recording of William Schuman’s Violin Concerto(Naxos 8.559083) was nominated for two Grammy awards, including one for best soloist with orchestra, and also named as Editor’s Choice by both The Gramophone and The Strad. His World Premiere Recording of John Corigliano’s Red Violin Caprices and recording of Bernstein’s Serenade (Naxos 8.559245) also won Editor’s Choice by The Gramophone magazine and CD of the week by The Daily Telegraph.
Matt Herskowitz
Pianist Matt Herskowitz is a unique new voice from within the nexus of classical and jazz traditions. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Matt is a brilliant young jazz pianist, a stunning interpreter of the classics, and a composer of vast range and originality. Unwilling to divide himself into different musical personae and bewildered by the arbitrary segregation of jazz and popular music from the classics, Matt prefers to expound on their essential unity, combining them into a new mode of expression.
Mat Fields
Mat Fieldes is one of the most sought-after bass players on the New York freelance scene today. Equally comfortable in Jazz, Rock, Hip-hop, R&B, and Classical genres, Mr. =Fieldes has collaborated with such luminaries as Joe Jackson, John Cale, Ornette Coleman, Steve Vai, Peter Erskine, Paquito D'Rivera, Kristjan Jarvi, Joe Williams, Arturo Sandaval, and Toni Tennille among others. His recent appearances include Dream Engine – the latest performance group for legendary song-writer Jim Steinman. In 2001, he performed on Joe Jackson’s album, Symphony, which won a Grammy Award for “Best Pop Instrumental”. Mr. Fieldes was born in Hastings, New Zealand. He earned his Master’s degree from The Juilliard School where he studied with Eugene Levinson, Principal Bass of the New York Philharmonic.
David Rosenblatt
David Rozenblatt’s talents have drawn him to all corners of the globe and all styles of music, performing in the world’s most revered concert halls as well as intimate nightclubs. He has performed and collaborated with some of the finest talents in Pop, Jazz and Classical and is currently performing with Barry Manilow with whom he can be seen on A&E’s Live By Request, PBS’s Soundstage, ABC’s Good Morning America, The Ellen Show, The Society of Singers honoring Elton John, BBC Television, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, and currently in his hit show Music and Passion in Las Vegas. David received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School, where he became a founding member of the critically acclaimed New York Percussion Quartet. He also leads his own Latin jazz band, Latin Jamzz, featuring prominent musicians as guest artists.
Nathaniel Rosen
Mr. Rosen achieved international stardom as the first American cellist to win a gold medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition, shortly after winning the coveted Naumburg Competition in 1977. Since then, he has performed with the New York, Los Angeles and Czech philharmonics, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Philadelphia, Minnesota and Dresden State orchestras, and the London, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Dallas, Houston and Vancouver symphonies. Mr. Rosen began cello studies with Eleonore Schoenfeld and continued with Gregor Piatigorsky. He has recorded several discs on the John Marks label, and teaches at both the Manhattan School of Music and the Meadows School at Southern Methodist University. He plays a 1738 Montagnana cello.
Dena Kay Jones
Dena Kay Jones has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and in Spain, Mexico and Canada. Solo performances include recitals at El Centro Municipal de Las Artes in Juarez, Mexico; the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Concert Series (Canada) and the For the Love of Music Series in Bisbee (Arizona); an appearance as soloist with the University of Arizona Symphony and University of Texas at El Paso Symphony and Choirs; and performances for world-renowned pianists Emanuel Ax and Peter Serkin at the 1998 Tanglewood Auditions in New York, Leon Fleisher at the 1999 Aspen Summer Music Festival and Russell Shermann at the 2000 Summer Courses in Santander, Spain. She offered her New York Debut at Merkin Hall in March 2003, performed with cellists Zuill Bailey and Dennis Brott at the Fourteenth El Paso Pro-Musica Chamber Festival in January 2004 and participated in the Festival Internacional de Música de Tecla Española (FIMTE) of Almería, Spain in 2007. In 2000, she was nominated for the University of Arizona Music Department's representative as the Best Teaching Assistant in the Fine Arts, and in 2001, she won the Music Teachers National Association Recognition of Achievement Award. She joined the music faculty of the University of Texas at El Paso in 2002.
Zuill Bailey
An avid chamber musician, Zuill Bailey performs regularly with the Perlman/Schmidt/Bailey trio (pianist Navah Perlman and violinist Giora Schmidt), with pianist Awadagin Pratt, and has appeared in concert with renowned musicians including Itzhak Perlman, Lynn Harrell, the Juilliard String Quartet, and Janos Starker. Recent festival appearances include returns to the Santa Fe, Savannah and Montreal Chamber Music festivals, the Bard Music Festival, Maverick Concerts, and performances at the Ravinia, Vail Valley, Chautauqua and Wintergreen festivals. A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory and The Juilliard School, Mr. Bailey’s principal teachers were Loran Stephenson, Stephen Kates and Joel Krosnick. He performs on a 1693 Matteo Goffriller cello, formerly owned by Mischa Schneider of the Budapest Quartet. In addition to his extensive touring engagements, Mr. Bailey serves as Professor of Cello at the University of Texas-El Paso, and as the Artistic Director of El Paso Pro-Musica. | |
